Talks and presentations

From Ko- to Ji-Sukashi:

Changes in Sukashi-Tsuba designs from the Kamakura to Muromachi period and thereafter.

Speaker: Eckhard Kremers, collector, President of the NBTHK-EB.

Duration: 25 – 30 min., followed by questions, private talks and discussions.

Quantifying Uchi-zori:

Speaker: Graham Curtis Long-time experienced collector, retired Chairman of the Token Society of Great Britain and who in 2005 was elected to the Board of Trustees of the NTHK.

Duration: 40 min.

The Gokaden:

Survey and introduction to the 5 major Koto-period sword traditions.

Speaker: Paul Bowman, collector, Chairman of Token Society of Great Britain, member of the NBTHK-EB.

Duration: 30 – 40 min, followed by questions, private talks and discussions.

Kanayama Tsuba:

History, qualities and design.

Speaker: Dr. Christopher Klojer, collector, member of the NBTHK-EB.

From Tensho- to Higo–koshirae:

The development of shapes and styles of the Muromachi-period, uchi-gatana-koshirae to Higo-koshirae, until the late Edo period.

Speakers: Eckhard Kremers and Mark Radburn, collector, member of the Token Society of Great Britain, member of the NBTHK-EB.

Duration: 30 – 40 min., followed by questions, private talks and discussions.

The new NBTHK Sword Museum:

Its architecture and it’s facilities.

Speaker: Hans Eschbaum, lifetime member of the NBTHK, collector and experienced connoisseur of Japanese swords.

Duration: Short introduction, followed by questions, private talks and discussions.

Sword Kantei:

2 to 3 Kantei sessions. Swords from different periods will be judged, their features and characteristics will be explained.

Speakers: Paul Bowman, collector Chairman of Token Society of Great Britain, member of the NBTHK-EB and Hans Eschbaum, lifetime member of the NBTHK, collector and experienced connoisseur of Japanese swords.

Duration: 40 – 60 min., followed by questions, private talks and discussions.

Lectures concerning the exhibits of swords and Kodogu alike:

Speakers: Hans Eschbaum, paul Bowman, Mark Radburn, Eckhard Kremers a.o.

This can be an open space event with several groups and moderators at the same time.

Duration: 35 min., followed by questions, private talks and discussions.
